The webinar “From Sinai to The Hague: the Biblical Roots of International Law and its Quarrel with Jewish Statehood” with Rabbi Daniel Rowe and Natasha Hausdorff took place on Monday 17 August 2026.
Since the Roman period, the Jewish people have often been castigated and persecuted for adhering to values that did not accord with the universal norms of the time. Many of those Jewish values have since become foundational principles of international law. The 1625 Treatise of Hugo Grotius on the Law of War and Peace, generally regarded as a seminal work in the development of modern international law, was replete with references to the Jewish Bible.
Yet the Jewish collective is once more being demonised for allegedly violating today’s international law. Will the Jewish people be vindicated again?

Rabbi Daniel Rowe is the Educational Visionary and Senior Lecturer of Aish. He hosts Rabbi Rowe Reacts, Aish Studios’ podcasts in which he breaks down viral clips, trending debates, and major news stories through the lens of Jewish philosophy, history, and Torah wisdom. Drawing on his deep knowledge of Judaism, science, and philosophy, he is widely regarded as one of the most dynamic Jewish educators of his generation.
Rabbi Rowe holds a BA in Philosophy from University College London (UCL) and an MPhil in Philosophy from Birkbeck College, and studied for nearly a decade in Israel at various Talmudic institutes. He is a noted expert on Jewish and Muslim history, having given numerous talks on the Judeo-Muslim dynamic, and brings a historian’s depth to his analysis of antisemitism, Israel, and Jewish identity in the modern world.
Rabbi Rowe spent over a decade building Aish’s educational footprint in the UK, serving as Educational Director and then Executive Director of Aish UK. He developed the Forum for Jewish Leadership, the Aleinu Conference, and the Genesis Programme, and coordinated the Chief Rabbi’s Shabbat UK. He now lives in Jerusalem, where he continues to teach, write, and shape Aish’s global educational vision.
Natasha Hausdorff is a barrister at 6 Pump Court Chambers and a frequent speaker on International Law. She has a law degree from Oxford University, qualified as a solicitor at Skadden, and subsequently gained an LLM from Tel Aviv University, focussing on public international law and the law of armed conflict. She clerked for Miriam Naor, President of Israel’s Supreme Court, and was a fellow at Columbia Law School’s National Security programme. Natasha is legal director of UKLFI Charitable Trust.
Natasha’s work explaining legal issues relating to Israel has been recognised by the American Jewish Committee’s award for moral courage and by the honour of lighting one of the torches on Har Herzl to mark Israel’s Independence Day.
